This product provides USB to Serial Adapters with one USB port and 1, 2, 4 or 8
DB9M RS232 Serial Ports. The UltraPort USB 4 and 8 port version require an 
external power supply included within the shipment of the product.

Known Issues:

  On Linux machines with kernel 2.6, large data transfers that are transmitted 
  from the host machine out the USB port can cause the host computer to become
  slow. This is because the 2.6 kernel allows memory resources to be allocated 
  by the USB driver without any pacing,thus making memory unavailable for other
  processes. When the transfer is complete the memory is released and the
  computer will resume normal operation.

  This is currenty being looked at by the USB development group at soureforge.
