Introduction
------------

Perle Systems has made available the latest version of the Perle 833IS
software on the Web.  Please refer to the release note for what has been
changed for this release.

The software updates for the 833IS consists of one of 3 possible files:

rasm.exe     - Perle 833IS Manager Update Kit 
pcc6600s.img - Perle 833IS Firmware (S/T Interface)
pcc6600u.img - Perle 833IS Firmware (U Interface)


833IS Manager Update Kit:
-------------------------
This update kit contains the 833 Manager Program , a TFTP Program and the 
833IS Firmware.

Run the .exe file to extract the files required for installation.

Simply run the batch file "brasm.bat" to start the utility.

The utility will guide you through the process of updating the Perle Manager 
or creating the diskettes.

The Manager Update Kit will create the following diskettes:

Perle 833IS Manager Diskette 1
Perle 833IS Manager Diskette 2
Perle 833IS Firmware Diskette 1 
Perle 833IS Firmware Diskette 2 

You will need four 1.44 Meg 3.5" floppy diskettes. It is recommended that
you use new diskettes.

Notes:
1. Manager update software does not contain TCP/IP files that are present 
   on the diskettes shipped with the 833IS. If TCP/IP is required then the 
   Manager update software must be installed over an existing installation
   that was done from original Perle diskettes.

2. If you want to load Perle 833IS Manager from hard disk directory, you 
   will be prompted for the Firmware directory. 


833IS Firmware Image Files:
---------------------------
The 833IS S/T and U interface firmware images can be directly downloaded
via TFTP to the 833IS flash volume. If your 833IS unit has S/T BRI interfaces
then you should download the pcc6600s.img firmware file.  If your 833IS unit
has U BRI interfaces then you should download the pcc6600u.img firmware file.
