To upgrade the RIO Linux driver please do the following steps:

1. Download the modified RIO patch file:
    generic_serial.patch
2. Copy the file to the appropriate kernel directory
     "/usr/src/linux"
3. Patch the generic_serial.c file by typing
     "patch -p1 <generic_serial.patch
3. Recompile the module source by typing
     /usr/src/linux/make modules 
4. Install the recompiled modules by typing
     /usr/src/linux/make modules_install
5. Reboot the PC
