IOLAN Secure Terminal Server FIPS 140-2 Compliancy
IOLAN SDS, SDG, STS, STG, SCS, and SCG Secure Terminal Servers
In order to protect sensitive data within network infrastructures, The Computer Security Division of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) established the Cryptographic Module Validation Program (CMVP). This program validates cryptographic modules to Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS).
Software modules validated as conforming to FIPS 140-2 are accepted by Federal Agencies for the protection of sensitive information. FIPS 140-2 is required for the sale of products implementing cryptography to the US or Canadian Federal Government.
Secure IOLAN Terminal Servers use an OpenSSL cryptographic software module that has been validated to meet the FIPS 140-2 standard as per Certificate #1747. OpenSSL is used by IOLAN services such as SSL (HTTPS) and SSH for the secure encryption of serial data sent and received on the network.
Secure IOLAN Terminal Servers loaded with designated FIPS 140-2 firmware are compliant with this NIST standard. Download of this software is free of charge and available on a Perle download page for users from the USA or Canada.
