Perle releases new 1, 2 and 8 port UltraPort cards allowing users to take advantage of the new generation of 3.3v PCI slots found in today's servers.
NASHVILLE, TN - February 24, 2004 — As an established leader in the serial market, Perle Systems, a developer and manufacturer of networking products for IP and e-business access, today released the new 1, 2 and 8i versions of the UltraPort universal 3.3v/5v PCI Serial Cards. Perle was among the first vendors to incorporate the 3.3v standard into its complete line of fixed and scalable serial card solutions to accommodate the latest generation of servers with the new 3.3v signaling PCI bus.
"Our expanded port count options satisfy the demand for both fewer ports and also an 8 port on-board RJ11/12 RS232 option (8i) requested by our large base of existing customers. They will have an even more cost-effective upgrade path to take advantage of the new PC and server processing power, "said Julie McDaniel, Vice President Marketing of Perle Systems.
Perle UltraPort is the ideal solution for applications such as retail
point of sale, data acquisition, office automation, advanced kiosk
design and much more, where a fixed count of local serial ports is
required. In addition, Perle's extreme reliability and ruggedness makes
these cards attractive for applications in medical diagnostic equipment
and equipment to be installed in Telco's. With 1, 2, 4, 8, 8i (integrated)
or 16 RS232 serial ports, the Perle UltraPort exceeds major competitors
for performance, throughput and reliable connectivity.
Perle UltraPort communicates at bi-directional speeds up to 921.6 Kbps per port, and offers the highest standard of surge protection available, ensuring the reliability and security of data. The New Perle UltraPort card will work with all existing Unix, Linux and Windows operating system drivers currently supported on Perle's Fast, Speed and I/O8+ PCI cards.
To eliminate the need for expensive re-cabling costs, a wide variety of DB9, DB25 and RJ45 cables and connector boxes are available to support the most popular pin-outs from Specialix International and Chase Research (both acquired by Perle) and Digi International.
The Perle range of UltraPort Serial Cards is backed by Perle's limited lifetime warranty and highly trained technical support team.
