The first complete line of PCI Express compatible Multi-port Serial Cards has been released by Perle Systems
Perle UltraPort Express supports new PCI Express bus technology
PCI Express, also known as PCIe, provides significant performance improvements when compared to the older PCI and PCI-X technology. It is a scalable, high-speed bus that maintains backward compatibility with PCI applications and drivers. PCI based Serial Cards are being used in many servers and desktops today supporting a variety of serial devices such as receipt printers, credit card readers and bar code readers. The Perle UltraPort Express Serial Cards will enable companies to connect these critical serial devices to servers that have PCI Express card slots.
