Perle releases PoE Ethernet Extenders
Deployment of power to remote devices such as IP cameras, VOIP phones and wireless access points beyond 100 meters.
NASHVILLE, TN - June 11th, 2013 — Perle Systems, a global provider of advanced Ethernet over fiber and secure device networking solutions, today introduces PoE Ethernet Extenders. PoE Ethernet Extenders provide a way to expand Ethernet data transmission up to 10,000 feet over copper wiring and provide Power over Ethernet (PoE) to standards based PoE compliant devices.
“Security cameras, wireless access points and even VoIP phones are commonly needed where AC or DC power is unavailable. Perle PoE Ethernet Extenders are the only VDSL- based Ethernet Extenders on the market that have a built-in Power Sourcing Equipment (PSE) controller that is fully compliant with IEEE 802.3af standards. This means it can tell, through signature detection, whether or not an attached Ethernet device is PoE capable. Competitive PoE Ethernet Extender products operate as a simple passive power injector and always apply power to RJ45 port pins. This will result in severe damage if non-PoE compliant Ethernet devices are accidently connected. Therefore, Perle has the only offering where PoE and non-PoE devices can be safely attached to the Ethernet Extender.
In addition, Perle PoE Ethernet Extenders are fully compliant to operate as a Powered Device (PD) supporting end-span and mid-span power sources (PSE).
