The new IOLAN SDS LDC Terminal Servers are hardened to satisfy NERC CIP and EPCIP requirements in 24VDC and 48VDC substations.
NASHVILLE, TN - May 12, 2009— Perle Systems, the global developer and manufacturer of serial to Ethernet connectivity solutions is pleased to announce the new Perle IOLAN SDS LDC Electric Utility Terminal Server. In March 2009 Perle launched the IOLAN SDS HV to address the specific Terminal Server needs in substations using high voltage 125VDC / 250VDC or 115VAC / 230VAC power. Perle’s new IOLAN SDS LDC Terminal Server now addresses the other half of the electric utility substation market that uses low voltage 24VDC and 48VDC power.
“For over 20 years Perle has provided Terminal Servers that easily connect any device with serial ports over Ethernet for access to network server applications,” says Julie McDaniel, Vice President Marketing, Perle Systems. She adds, “Perle now offers a complete line of Electric Utility Terminal Servers to provide a cost-effective and highly secure solution for electrical utilities looking to meet NERC CIP and EPCIP requirements."
Perle’s IOLAN SDS HV / LDC Electric Utility Terminal Servers are designed to meet harsh environments associated with power substations. These are rugged terminal servers with attributes like - support substation AC and DC voltage ranges, extended operating temperatures and emission, immunity and safety approvals associated with substation IT equipment.
The new IOLAN SDS LDC Electric Utility Terminal Servers come with 8 or 16 RJ45 connectors with software selectable RS232/422/485 interfaces, extended operating temperatures of -40 to +70 C, advanced security features for NERC-CIP and EPCIP critical cyber asset substation compliance, 10/100/1000 Ethernet, user authentication, event management security features, IPv6 support, a built-in failsafe alarm relay and rugged metal housing.
