Perle Console Servers offer Java-free browser access to remote serial console ports via Telnet and SSH

Perle IOLAN Console Servers provide secure access to remote serial devices without the need to download java-based Telnet/SSH programs (applets).

NASHVILLE, TN - November 16, 2009— Perle Systems, the global developer and manufacturer of serial to Ethernet connectivity solutions, presents the first and only Console Server to provide Java free browser access to remote serial console ports via Telnet and SSH. Now IT Administrators can easily access remote serial devices without downloading java-based Telnet or SSH applets to remote clients.

“Since firewalls generally block Telnet and SSH ports, and not all workstations have Java installed, this new feature saves our customers a lot of time and effort,” says Julie McDaniel, Vice President Perle Systems. She continues, “By using a Perle IOLAN Console Server, remote serial devices can be accessed via HTTP, supporting SSH1 and SSH2, with no client download required. Set up is now fast and easy.”

Perle IOLAN Console Servers, sometimes referred to as a serial terminal servers, provide data centre managers with secure remote management of routers, switches, firewalls, servers, PBXs or any device with a serial console port. They come standard with all of the advanced security functionality needed to easily perform secure remote data centre management and out-of-band management of IT assets from anywhere in the world.

Java Free Browser Access is available in IOLAN Firmware Release Version 4.1.
