Perle Systems Releases TruePort Version 6.1

The latest driver for the Perle IOLAN Console/Terminal /Device Server adds advanced feature set while supporting the widest range of operating systems

NASHVILLE, TN—January 03, 2008—Perle Systems, the global developer and manufacturer of serial to Ethernet connectivity solutions announced today the release of TruePort Version 6.1. Perle’s TruePort is a COM port re-director driver utility that is installed on the customers’ application server. All COM port directed data sent by the application is re-directed by TruePort across the IP/Ethernet network to remote Perle Terminal Servers or I/O Device Servers which are connected to the customers’ target devices. Data and serial port signaling is transparently communicated between the application and remote device. IOLAN users can download the new driver directly from the Perle website.

While other Terminal Server vendors provide a COM port redirector that is limited to the Windows operating systems, Perle’s TruePort provides a comprehensive driver set supporting a wide range of operating systems including Vista, Windows 2003, 2000, NT and XP, Linux, AIX, HP UX, NCR UNIX, SUN Solaris and Sparc , Intel, SCO Unixware and SCO Openserver.

“The ability for TruePort to support the broadest range of operating systems has always been a differentiator for the IOLAN product line”, says Julie McDaniel, VP Marketing at Perle Systems. “TruePort version 6.1 gives our extensive user base advanced features such as allowing multiple connections with multiple COM ports and SSL client/server capability using AES or 3DES encryption. It is the optimal solution for providing a seamless link to both the application and device, thereby enabling communication across an IP network infrastructure.”
